Improving the performance of cadmium telluride solar cell (CdTe) with different buffer layers

In this paper, the performance of the buffer layer of Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) thin film solar cell was optimized using SCAPS software. At first, five different buffer layers including CdS, In2S3, ZnO, ZnSe and ZnS with variable thicknesses from 10 to 100 nm have been replaced in the structure of the solar cell and it has been observed. As the thickness of the buffer layer is increased, the eff...

Investigation of the Effect of Band Offset and Mobility of Organic/Inorganic HTM Layers on the Performance of Perovskite Solar Cells

Abstract: Perovskite solar cells have become an attractive subject in the solar energydevice area. During ten years of development, the energy conversion efficiency has beenimproved from 2.2% to more than 22%, and it still has a very good potential for furtherenhancement. In this paper, a numerical model of the perovskite solar cell with thestructure of glass/ FTO/ TiO2/...

High-Efficiency Solar Cell Concepts: Physics, Materials, and Devices

Over the past three decades, significant progress has been made in the area of high-efficiency multijunction solar cells, with the effort primarily directed at current-matched solar cells in tandem. The key materials issues here have been obtaining semiconductors with the required bandgaps for sequential absorption of light in the solar spectrum and that are lattice matched to readily available...

Semi-transparent polymer solar cells with excellent sub-bandgap transmission for third generation photovoltaics.

Semi-transparent organic photovoltaics are of interest for a variety of photovoltaic applications, including solar windows and hybrid tandem photovoltaics. The figure shows a photograph of our semi-transparent solar cell, which has a power conversion efficiency of 5.0%, with an above bandgap transmission of 34% and a sub-bandgap transmission of 81%.
